Wainwright Barth (Street & Smith)

Wainwright Barth is a bald, egotistical, ex-banker who became New York City's deputy commissioner when Commissioner Weston went abroad to investigate an investment scandal. When Weston came back from his investigation, he resumed his commissioner duties. Afterward, Barth would only serve as a commissioner when Weston was on vacation or ill.

During Barth's administration, Detective Joe Cardona was promoted to acting inspector.

Deputy Commissioner Wainwright Barth was created by Walter B. Gibson, first appearing in Shadow Magazine #62 (1934).
