Shadow Magazine Vol 1 5

Claude H. Fellows was a bespectacled, chubby insurance broker. When The Shadow saved him from financial ruin, he enlisted him as his first contact agent.

His duties included gathering information from newspaper articles and contacting the other agents. After preparing his reports, he would secretly drop them off at the B. Jonas Office Building.

In Chicago, while on a job for The Shadow, Fellows witnessed a mob execution and therefore he was shot down in a drive-by shooting. He became the first, and only, agent to be killed in the line of duty. Needless to say, his killer did not escape punishment. His duties later fell to two other agents, Rutledge Mann and Burbank.

Claude Fellows was created by Walter B. Gibson, first appearing in Shadow Magazine #1 (1931).
