History

Chance LeBrue was the final agent to be enlisted into The Shadow's services. He was a stunt car driver who gained his nickname "Chance" by driving cars through fire and crashing them through brick walls at county fairs. When those feats had gone out of style, LeBrue was out of work. Desperate for employment, he took a job demonstrating traffic safety. He was hired to smash a car, but he didn't know criminals had hidden a body in it.

Fortunately, The Shadow was already in pursuit of the criminals involved, and realized that LeBrue was being setup. A few months after the case was wrapped up, LeBrue entered The Shadow's network of agents where he was put to work when a fast driver with reckless abilities were needed.
